We’re in the process of pulling the forms from the walls we poured last week. The walls ran from 1′ tall to about 6′ tall and are 8″ thick. Concrete is such a versatile and beautiful material. It works great here but can also provide a stylish backdrop for a residential outdoor living space or the patio at a restaurant. They are 6″ above surrounding grade to provide a curb, which will eventually get some safety barriers installed on it. We finished the top of the wall nearest the building 8″ lower than the floor of the building and backfilled behind the wall. Connecting our wall to the floor of the building is a combination of #4 and #5 rebar that will act as a deadman, making sure that nothing moves as forklift traffic runs back and forth all day long. This will also make sure that the combined weight of the forktrucks and their cargo will be carried through the pad and into the wall without a seam or joint to act as weak point, which can possibly lead to failure. Our expert landscaping services include the installation of durable and attractive concrete retaining walls.
